Student-Parent Contract:

STUDENT ATTENDANCE AND CLASS READINESS – Students should arrive 10 minutes prior to a scheduled class.

All dancers will have a mandatory dress code for each of their classes. Including ballet slippers, dance attire, and hair requirements, and equipped with a yoga mat. This dress code is meant to keep our dancers safe, encourage professionalism, and limit intra peer conflict based on appearance or attire. If a dancer arrives to class out of dress code, they may be asked to sit and watch class or purchase proper attire from our shop.

The communication between New Stars Dance School and students’ parents and/or legal guardians is managed only via email. As a part of the registration process parents and/or legal guardians should provide a valid email address to New Stars Dance School, whereas it is the parents’ and/or legal guardians’ responsibility to check the correspondence in a timely manner.

Prior to the special events, concerts, competitions, and/or any other public shows students must attend scheduled classes in order to be eligible to participate in these events.

Students should attend classes weekly (1 class per week) or twice a week (2 classes per week) it depending on the programs they enrolled in. Students and their parents and/or legal guardians understand that they should make all-out efforts to attend scheduled practices. If the student is not able to attend a scheduled class for reasons of illness, family emergency, or other reasonable unexpected circumstances, New Stars Dance School has to be notified in advance or as soon as it is possible. In all other cases, except when a student provides an eligible medical evidence note or parents and/or legal guardians send a written non-attendance notice to New Stars Dance School three weeks in advance (i.e. scheduled family travels), the absence of a student on the practice will not be considered as a valid reason for non-attendance.

If a student suffers from prolonged pain or has been injured it is the responsibility of parents and/or legal guardians to seek medical attention and thereafter to provide a confirmation to the New Stars Dance School that the student is safe to attend classes.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY – As the legal guardian of my designated child/children, I hereby consent to participation in New Stars Dance School classes. I recognize that injuries can occur in any activity involving motion, including dance, and physical activity in general. I understand that participating may result in personal injury (including but not limited to: injury to bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, internal organs, and other aspects of the skeletal system and potential impairment to other aspects of the body, and in rare occurrences, death, complete or partial paralysis, or brain damage) and property damage, loss or theft. I fully understand these risks and hereby agree to allow my child to participate voluntarily.

I hereby COVENANT NOT TO undertake any legal actions and FOREVER RELEASE New Stars Dance School, this facility, affiliated and partner companies and organizations, property owners and lessors, staff, contractors, subcontractors, teachers, owners, directors, and other members involved in this facility’s program(s), from all liability and for any and all damages and injuries suffered by my child/children during instruction, supervision, and/or control during any and all classes.

I hereby acknowledge that I have carefully read this Waiver of Liability and fully understand that this is a release of liability. I also acknowledge that I had an opportunity to consult legal counsel regarding this release.

The Undersigned Agrees To The Following:

1. All the fees must be paid in full upon the season starts. The schedule would be listed accordingly. Payment can be made either by credit card or e-transfer. Duration of a class as listed below:

Group of 3-4 years old students will practice 30 minutes per time (1 class per week)
Group of 5-6years old students will practice 45 minutes per time (1 class per week)
Group of 7-8 years old students will practice 60 minutes per time (Recreational-1 class per week; Performing-2 classes per week)
Group of 9-14 years old students will practice 60 minutes per time (Performing-2 classes per week)

The final schedule will be announced in the first week of September.

1. Registration-In order to register for classes, each dancer must submit a completed registration form along with the registration fee and their uniform set purchased. This secures your child’s spot in their desired class(es). These fees are non-refundable. We offer a 10% sibling discount, please let us know upon submitting the registration forms.

2. Tuition-This is an annual fee that includes all classes from September through June of the dance season and administrative fees.

3. Refunds-No money for services rendered (regardless of student attendance) will be refunded once paid. No refund if any newly arising scheduling conflict with another activity or sporting event, or disinterest in continuing with dance.

4. Costumes rental fees or an additional fee are non-refundable; the fee may vary based on the type of costume, events, competitions, and/or shows. The information and the fee charged will be communicated to parents and/or legal guardians prior to any scheduled events, competitions, and/or shows.

5. Uniform cost: Twinkle Stars $61.00; Little Stars $61.00; Rising Stars $71.00; Nova Stars $71.00; Shining Stars $32.00; Bright Stars $32.00. Each student is required to wear their New Stars Dance School uniform while attending classes. The appropriate uniform set, tailored to their age and program, should be purchased before the start of the school year.

6. New Stars Dance School reserves the right to-In case of inclement weather conditions that cause school cancellations, medical reasons, force major, and/or other reasons by which the New Stars Dance School rental facility will be closed and/or New Stars Dance School will not be able to provide a scheduled class, New Stars Dance School will communicate the date and time of the next practice via email.

7. Missed classes will be provided based on scheduled class availability and students’ eligibility. Extended missed classes due to illness or injury with an eligible physician’s note may be considered on an individual basis. Missed classes due to personal reasons (vacation, personal schedule conflicts, etc.) are non-refundable. The student can attend missed classes based on spot availability. The make-up class should be coordinated with the head coach in advance via email at info@newstarsgo.ca

8. Code of Conduct-All New Stars Dance School dancers will be held to the highest standards of conduct. Communicating negatively about anyone, including oneself, in or outside our studio will not be tolerated. Dancers and parents are expected to show courtesy and respect to all staff and other students. Any student or parent who exhibits repeated negative or disrespectful behavior either online or in the studio, will be withdrawn from the studio with no refunds. We expect our dancers to be respectful, supportive, encouraging and positive in spirit, attitude and behavior . Parents must also demonstrate these qualities and help to maintain the positive atmosphere we have created.

9. This contract will be governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and valid till June 30, 2025.

10. Any clarifications to this agreement should be communicated to the New Stars Dance School in written form via email.

Media Release Form

I give my permission to New Stars Dance School to use and publish photographic, video, and/or digital images of my child, for promotional and/or any other reasonable purposes by any means, including but not limited to, the New Stars Dance School for releases on website, Facebook and/or other social media platforms, and on any number of occasions.

I waive any right that I may inspect or approve the finished product/s that may include the use of photographic, digital, and/or video images of my child. I understand that New Stars Dance School may also change, alter or otherwise manipulate my child’s image as it may deem necessary.

I acknowledge and understand that New Stars Dance School may use my child’s name in connection with her/his image. I hereby release New Stars Dance School in respect of any claim arising from the use of the promotional material as outlined above and release all rights and claims to any fees, therefore.

COVID-19 Liability Waiver

I acknowledge the contagious nature of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 that provincial health authorities still recommend practicing social distancing and the wearing of masks in common areas. I recognize that New Stars Dance School has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus/COVID-19. Despite these measures, New Stars Dance School cannot guarantee that my child will not become infected with the Coronavirus/Covid-19 and that there will continue to be a risk of becoming exposed to and/or infected by the Coronavirus/COVID-19. I voluntarily seek dance lessons for my child provided by New Stars Dance School and acknowledge that I am increasing his/her risk of exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19. I acknowledge that we must comply with all set procedures to reduce the spread while attending lessons. I attest that my child:

Is not experiencing any symptoms of illness such as cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell.
I do not believe my child has been exposed to someone with a suspected and/or confirmed case of the Coronavirus/COVID-19.
Has not been diagnosed with Coronavirus/Covid-19 and/or not yet cleared as non-contagious by provincial or local public health authorities.
My child is following all CDC recommended guidelines as much as possible and limiting my exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19.

I understand that this release discharges New Stars Dance School from any liability or claim that I, my heirs, or any personal representatives may have against the studio with respect to any bodily injury, illness, death, medical treatment, or property damage that may arise from, or in connection to, any dance lessons received at New Stars Dance School. This liability waiver and release extend to the New Stars Dance School together with all involved parties.
